Game start
@FLORIDA MAN Sedai has been raised to the Amyrlin Seat.

A new day dawns in Tar Valon.

Reminder

Aes Sedai must adhere to the Three Oaths, which includes vowing never to tell a lie. Anyone caught lying will be expelled from the game.

To deal with this restriction, you may simply refuse to answer questions, or you may answer in half-truths.

For example, suppose that I was playing, and I was the cop. Like any decent cop, I want to keep my ability a secret until I have information to reveal. So what do I say when some fool asks me if I'm the cop? I could simply refuse to answer. Or, I could say something like, "there are no police in Tar Valon, and if there were, I would not join them." This answer heavily implies I'm not a cop, without actually telling a lie.

Unfortunately for us all, the Black Ajah has forsaken their Oaths, and is not beholden to this same standard of truth.

Day 1 start. You may now post.

Hello everyone, it looks like the great minds of Tar Valon are present!

[Vote Lynch WPK] maybe he will get more active if we vote him instead of appearing only at the end of dayphase.

I wonder about the number of Mafia, the Black Ajah - are there split between each Ajah, like they were in the books? But 7 members Mafia faction would be too much, right?

i would guess 4~5 mafia and 1~2 indies

Each Ajah has mafia? Is this based on the story?

Doubtful there are 7 mafia in a game of 21.

In the books this game is based on - Wheel of Time series, Black Ajah were basically the illegal servants of the Dark One (something ala the Devil) that secretly infiltrated the Aes Sedai and all the "official" Ajah. Sorry for the spoilers but they were inevitable.

It was mentioned by Nitty in sign-up thread that Black Ajah are Mafia in this game.

There are no Black Ajah in the sign up? Someone from each Ajah might betray their own Ajah and join Black Ajah?

Black Ajah were either recruited before they joined the Aes Sedai order (basically the order of mages and sages with great political influence, all of them women) or recruited from women that already joined Aes Sedai.

So I quess I can imagine the cultist mechanic here, but I hope @Pool Party Nitty would not bring cultist into this game without warning....

well we gotta just take everything with a grain of salt now lmao

It could pop up later, sniper king. Flavor can have an impact.

And it looks like we *are* held to our deception oaths. So watch for those who are role-fishing townies even more in this game, honestly.
if there were snipers in tower valor, i woulda joined them :datass

Thus Town can't fake stuff to bait scum...
yea i lowkey feel like i'll accidently get myself killed cuz of that :dead

Hmm so we have three oaths:

1. To speak no word that is not true

2. To make no weapon with which one man may kill another

3. Never to use the One Power as a weapon except against the Shadow, or in the last extreme defense of her life or the life of another Aes Sedai

Tbf I don't understand second and third oath. :shanksthink
3rd one sounds like a role. Similar to Nitty's role in the tower of god

I included all three oaths for flavor purposes, but the only oath that really applies here is the oath not to tell a lie.

2nd-- there are items in the lore created for violence called angreal or sa'angreal. Forbidden for those to be created for killing.
3rd-- we may not have a vig? Or one that is heavily restricted.

Nitty says bottom 2 are just flavor so *shrug*

Are you strict like a DDL?
Spoiler: example

Nessos: "Florida Man you are Mafia!"
Florida Man: "You got me I am Mafia! Hahaha"
Nitty: "Florida Man lied and got modkilled."

Or would you differ between lies and obvious sarcasm?

Some partial, and simple, deductions based on logic and no proof whatsoever:

1. Nitty would not have made the Black Ajah completely random, which would risk having all of one Ajah black.
2. Red and Green are by far the largest Ajah, and the odds of a black sister NOT hiding within them are very low.
3. Florida Man is Amyrlin Seat, and therefore guaranteed to be innocent. I am innocent, and therefore I believe one of John Wayne or Aizen is a black.
4. Blue and White would have one black sister from the two of them, not one each, since they're so small. Two chosen from gray, brown, and yellow, for a black group of 5.

1. Maerala Sedai, of the Red Ajah
2. Lord Genome Sedai, of the Red Ajah
3. Go D. Ussop Sedai, of the Red Ajah
4. Cypher Sedai, of the Red Ajah

5. Florida Man Sedai, of the Green Ajah
6. John Wayne Sedai, of the Green Ajah
7. Tiger Sedai, of the Green Ajah
8. Aizen Sedai, of the Green Ajah

9. Cooler Sedai, of the Gray Ajah

12. Lord Melkor Sedai, of the Brown Ajah
13. Sigismund Sedai, of the Brown Ajah

17. Melodie Sedai, of the Yellow Ajah

18. Juan Sedai, of the Blue Ajah
19. Kvothe Kingkiller Sedai, of the Blue Ajah

20. WolfPrinceKiba Sedai, of the White Ajah
21. Nessos Sedai, of the White Ajah

I am far from eager to modkill anyone, and I will avoid it when I can. The flavor and unique mechanics are meant to enhance the game, not detract from it by frustrating players or forcing modkills. However, that also requires that players try to respect the unique mechanics.

So you wouldn't directly modkill for obvious sarcasm, but you would appreciate it if we give our best to avoid it.

Sounds fair.

@John Wayne @A I Z E N

How do you guys feel about my deductions a post above Nitty?

I know I'm innocent, but you could be lying and it could really be you or it could be Aizen.

But there is a chance that Nitty purposely avoided picking from all the groups and for example made all the Red Ajah into mafia, or any other combination. Basically we can't say for sure Nitty divided mafia by the method you proposed.

Man it feels so good to talk normally.

‘Tis not an unreasonable one.

Though I do suspect the amount of mafia is probably not more than 4. Possibly 3 with a lynchpin.

I can't imagine 3 in a game this size. You can't imagine 5. Sounds like a reasonable deduction presents itself.

I expect Mafia is completly random distributed. Also you could have make this deduction during seat voting promoting the Ajahs with only 2 colors.

Using my deduction, I don't think raising a member of Blue or White would have made nearly as much of a difference as raising a prominent member of my own Ajah.

I don't believe in true random. Especially not when groups are formed.

btw one thing i dont like about the way the ajahs r worded is u could roughly guess what abilities each might have

i.e yellow are probably doctors, and brown is probably cops/trackers etc..

so mafia would just hit ppl from yellow/brown ajah..

unless the ajahs r just flavor talk and these power roles could be everywhere, which I hope it is
Why would Browns be cops?! :hawk

Yeah that's too obvious hopefully it's random but if we know that each Ajah should have one mafia then it should be balanced right? How many mafia are there in the book? Seven or more?
A little less than 25% of all Aes Sedai are Black Ajah-affiliated in the novels.

As for the other point, there are no requirements to join any Ajah except the Yellow, which requires a sister to have some skill in Healing. So we should not assume that someone's abilities will reflect their chosen Ajah's mission.
