Welcome to Members Mafia, a homegrown NF tradition where the players are the roles.

    Members Mafia 2

Members Mafia 3: Ghosts of the Past

    k1tRuvn.png

    1. Do not discuss the game outside the thread or moderator-designated private chats under any circumstances, even if you die.

    2. If you post after dying, then you will be ineligible to return to the game such as through resurrection. Dead players will not be used as replacements.

    3. Day and night phases each last for 24 hours. Collectively, a 48 hour day+night is called a cycle. During the day, players can post and cast lynch votes. Failing to vote for another player will count as 2 votes toward yourself, and you cannot vote for no lynch. You cannot post during the night.

    4. Votes must be phrased [vote lynch X] or [change vote lynch X] or I may overlook them.

    5. Do not edit or delete your posts.

    6. Do not screenshot or quote your private messages from the moderator. References to the text of your role PM must be paraphrased, not repeated word-for-word.

    7. Role revealing is allowed, but not recommended.

    8. If the game ends in an RNG lynch, then it will be declared a draw with no victor.

    9. The host may make on-the-fly game balancing or ruleset changes if they deem it necessary.

Members Mafia is introducing a new mechanic: the after show!

Each cycle, a group of randomly chosen players will be invited to join me for the after show, enabling them to post during that night phase. Their names will be announced at the beginning of the cycle, and during the day, other players may privately send me questions that they want to ask those players. That night, I will assign each player in the after show 1 submitted question that they must answer, or else they'll be modblocked.

    Phases

    1. I am adapting the phase system from this year's Favorites. Votes and actions will lock 1 hour before the end of the day phase, and this final hour is called the Twilight (or Sunset) Sub-Phase. Actions will again lock 1 hour before the end of the night phase, the final hour of which is called the Sunrise Sub-Phase.

    2. During the day, actions are processed in the order they're received, and they're processed as soon as the host is able to do so. During the night, actions are processed at the end of the night phase, and in the following order:

    1. Role crushes
    2. Roleblocks
    3. Redirects
    4. Mafia & indie kills
    5. Town kills
    6. All other types of abilities

If players simultaneously target each other with nullifying affects, such as 2 players attempting to town-kill or roleblock each other during the same night, then neither ability will succeed.

    3. If the player with the most votes at the end of the day is protected against lynching, then the lynch will pass to the player with the next highest amount of votes.

    Roles

    1. The color of your role name determines your win condition.

    Town
wincon: eliminate all threats to the town

    Mafia
wincon: eliminate all threats to your faction

If your role color is not red or blue, then that means you’re an independent and your role text will explain your win condition.

    2. Every role also has an alignment of either innocent or guilty. Generally speaking, most town roles are innocent and most non-town roles are guilty, although there may be some exceptions.

    3. This is the format for all roles:

    Elistren said:
Picture of the namesake player’s avatar

    Role name

    alignment:

[# Shot Passive - Ability Name] - Limited use passives expire after a given number of uses.

[Passive - Ability Name] - Passive abilities are always in effect and do not need to be submitted as an action.

[# Shot Active - Ability Name] - Limited has actives expire after a given number of uses.

[Active - Ability Name] - Active abilities must be submitted as an action in order to take effect. Unless stated otherwise, most active abilities can only be used during the night phase.

    4. Players will not be given their namesake role. If someone receives their own role, then I will re-randomize the role off to someone else.

    5. The host is not playing in the game and cannot be lynched or targeted.

    Abilities

    1. "Doctors," or roles with protective abilities, cannot protect themselves. Roleblocks disable some passive defenses, such as bulletproof abilities. Players learn when they are blocked.

    2. Limited use abilities may be used again if they fail or if they are blocked.

    3. Faction kills are performed by a specific member of that mafia, and can be tracked or roleblocked by targeting that person. The mafia will decide among themselves who receives which role.

    4. When a player is murdered during the night, the writeup will only say that they died and what their role was, not which faction killed them. Failed kills will not appear in the writeup.

    5. If an ability requires certain posting conditions to be met, such as for another player to quote you, then you must include proof that the condition was met when submitting your action. The host will not monitor these types of abilities for you.

    6. As I said last year, I have temporarily suspended post quoting mechanics and death millers from my games. There are no death millers in this game, and you may freely quote other players without worrying about triggering an ability of theirs.

Bonus Life - Protects against 1 kill.

Conditional Abilities - Cannot be used until certain conditions are met.

Helping Lynch A Player - If you are voting for someone when they are lynched, you are considered to have helped lynch them.

Hidden Abilities - Secret abilities that are not known until certain conditions are met.

Interaction - When one player targets another player, those two players are considered to have "interacted" with each other.

Investigative Abilities - Abilities whose purpose is to give their owner new information about another player, such as trackers and cops.

Limited Use Abilities - Refers to one shot, two shot, three shot, etc. type abilities.

Murder - Death at the hands of another player, as opposed to death by lynching.

Namesake Player - The player after whom your role is named. For example, if you received the Laix role, then Laix would be your namesake player.

Role Crush - Disables most player abilities, both passive and active.

Superkill - The highest level of kills. Superkills bypasses all defenses, bonus lives and roleblocks. Superkills can still be redirected.

Vote Tampering - Abilities that interfere with voting, such as vote silencers and vote thieves.

Day 1 - Night show guests are announced New
  • Invitations have been sent out for the after show, and our guests tonight will be:

    Laix
    Hero
    Iwandesu
    Remchu
    Dragon D. Luffy

Over the next 24 hours, you may privately submit questions for our night show guests to me through your role PM. Each night show guest will be given a set of questions they have to answer in the thread, or else they'll be modblocked for the night.

The more salacious and antagonistic your question, the likelier it is to get chosen. :catflower

There are 24 hours left in this day phase. The phase ends at 8 PM central time on 8/26.

Day 1 - Phase change notice New
  • Announcement

In my haste to start the game, I made a mistake when planning the phase timings around my classes. On some days my classes don't end until 7:45, which means I can't end the phases at 8.

The phase is being extended by 1 hour, until 9 pm central time. This also means the sunset phase will be pushed back an hour, to 8 pm, which is when the day was originally meant to end.

Actions and votes lock for the sunset phase 2 hours and 20 minutes from now.

The day will end, and the night show will begin, 3 hours and 20 minutes from now.

This should be the last time I need to change phase timings in this game.

    Thanks for your patience!

Day 1 - John Wayne (Laix) is lynched
  • John Wayne (Laix) was lynched!

    191084.jpg

    Laix
    alignment: guilty

[Active - Kylie Minogue's Booking Agent] - Laix quit playing mafia to promote Kylie Minogue's music full time. Laix wins when at least 3/4 of the living players are [Kylie Minogue Stans], and he has following abilities:

[Passive - Gone Promoting] - If another player targets Laix with an ability, then their ability will fail. Laix is only vulnerable to mafia kills.

[Active - Stream Kylie] - Each night Laix can target another player to show them a Kylie Minogue song, permanently turning them into a [Kylie Minogue Stan].

[Active - Booking That Stage You Speak Of] - During the night Laix can book Kylie for a performance in the game thread by submitting a Kylie Minogue song to the host, which the host will include in that night's writeup. During the day, Laix can target 1 player who mentions that night's song to permanently turn them into a [Kylie Minogue Stan].

[One Shot Active - Kylie Minogue's Mafia] - Starting on night 4, Laix can decide to give up his career as Kylie Minogue's booking agent and return to mafia. If Laix uses this ability, he will disband the current mafia, causing all its living members to become either independents or members of the town. Laix will become the godfather of a newly formed mafia, and he can choose up to 4 of the living [Kylie Minogue Stans] to join him as his subordinates. Laix will also lose access to [Kylie Minogue's Booking Agent], and he will gain the following abilities:

[Conditional Active - Troll Box] - During the night Laix can gift any player who isn't in his mafia faction a troll box, which will grant them a one shot superkill. Unbeknownst to the recipient, if they try to use the troll box to kill someone in Laix's faction, then it will backfire and superkill them instead.

[Conditional Active - Laix Games] - Each night Laix can control any role from a game he hosted, enabling him to use 1 of their abilities. The moderator may put limitations on certain roles or veto absurd requests to prevent game-breaking behavior.

[Conditional Active - Gossip Girl] - Actions used by Laix's mafia can be hidden from the writeup and replaced with the phrase "... xoxo Gossip Girl". Actions hidden by this ability cannot be clarified or revealed by any abilities.

Night 1 start. No more posting.

Night 1 - The after show
  • giphy.gif

    Welcome to the after show!

Just because the day phase is over doesn't mean the drama stops here! Meet tonight's guests:

    @Dragon D. Luffy
    @Scumdesu
    @RemChu
    @Laix
    @Hero

Each of you will be asked a viewer-submitted question that you must answer here in the thread tonight, or else you'll be modblocked! You may also use this time to respond to the other guests if they say something about you. Just make sure you save the serious game-solving discussion for the day phase!

    Here are your questions:

    To Iwandesu,

Yesterday, DDL said that RemChu suffers from mood swings and that he does drugs, bragged about flaming Remchu into quitting mafia for a year, and even threatened to give Remchu a breakdown so that he does it again. As a mod yourself, do you think that kind of behavior is why DDL had to leave the mod team, and do you think you're a better section mod than DDL was? At least you know how to treat people with respect.

    - Santi

    To DDL,

Do you think RemChu still holds a grudge against you for making him quit mafia the first time, or is his antagonistic behavior toward you due to other things going on in his life?

    - WPK

    To Remchu,

Laix recently called your end-of-game play in Manga Mashup the worst play of 2020, but isn't he the one who set you up to fail in with that imbalanced game? Why are you still friendly with someone who talks so much crap about you?

    - Melodie

    To Hero,

You said today that you try harder in games you actually want to play, but you didn't try in Laix's Manga Mashup game at all, in fact you chose to watch TV shows instead. Why do you want to play Nitty's games more than Laix's?

    - Juan

    To Laix,

You recently said that you didn't want to do Iconics anymore, and that you're going to do another Manga Mashup instead, because Hero is such a flake. Has Hero's showing in this game improved your opinion of him, or did it just make you more upset that he was more interested in Nitty's game than yours?

    - SinRaven

We received some juicy questions tonight! Let's see what our guests have to say!

    Day 2 start New
  • @Sigismund (Aragorn) died tonight.

    270199.jpg

    Estel (Aragorn)
    alignment: innocent

[The Simple Life] - You live a normal life in the township of Rivendell, and you have no abilities.

[Hidden One Shot Passive - Destiny] - At the end of night 2, the host will reveal to Estel his true identity as Aragorn, granting him the following abilities:

[One Shot Passive - The Shards of Narsil] - Aragorn carries the remains of his family's longsword. If Aragorn is targeted with 3 helpful or protective actions, his sword will be reforged into [Andúril], granting him the following ability:

[Conditional Passive - Andúril] - If Aragorn is killed or roleblocked, he will learn who attacked him and roleblock them instead.

[Passive - Elf-friend] - Aragorn is allied with Gandalf the Grey, a wizard who helps him fight against the mafia. Each night Gandalf the Grey will send Aragorn 1 sentence from the mafia chat. If Aragorn is murdered or role crushed, then Gandalf will sacrifice himself to protect Aragorn, destroying this ability.

[One Shot Active - The Ring of Barahir] - Aragorn carries the sigil of his family, which he can wear to reveal his identity to the thread.

[Active - Strider] - During the night Aragorn can watch a section of 3 players on the player list to learn who targets those players. Aragorn can also guard 1 of those players, redirecting any kills used against them that night to Aragorn.

A mysterious and sinister force has reduced everyone's voting power by 1.

An innocent player has betrayed the town and become guilty.

Today we're playing a round of musical chairs! Everyone must roll a 9 sided die. Players who roll numbers 3, 6 or 9, or who do not roll at all, will fall down and be roleblocked tonight.

Day 2 start. You may now post.

Day 2 - Hayumi (Melodie) is lynched
  • :catsuicide Hayumi (Melodie) was lynched! :catsuicide

    213583.jpg

    Melodie
    alignment: guilty

[Passive - I Made It Up] - Melodie made up a lie that she is protected against roleblocks and role crushes. Melodie's lie was so convincing that even the host believed her and actually granted her permanent protection against roleblocks and role crushes.

[Passive - Misogyny] - The mafia section hates women, and Melodie has been persecuted for so long that being eliminated no longer affects her. If Melodie dies, then the next person who dies after her will have their role hidden from the thread, and Melodie will return to the game and take on their role and win condition for another chance at winning the game.

[Active - Mad Doctor Mello] - During the night Melodie can perform an operation on another player, role crushing them and and making them untargetable for that night. Afterward, their abilities will permanently be improved, and they will be protected against roleblocks. Melodie wins if 1 of the players she operated on survives until the end of the game.

Night 2 start. No more posting!

Night 2 - The after show
  • PD35.gif

Welcome back to another episode of the after show, where our players get to know each other on a more... personal level! Please welcome tonight's guests:

    @Flower
    @Nessos
    @SinRaven
    @Melodie
    @Santí

Each of you will be assigned a question you are required to answer, or else you'll be modblocked tonight. During this time, you may use this thread to answer your quest or to respond to another guest's answer, but you cannot have meaningful discussion about the game! After all, game-solving is such a bore.

    Here are your questions:

    Flower,

If Nessos has such a serious problem with you, then why do you think he decided to join NF after you did? Doesn't it seem like he's following you around just to spread rumors about you?

    - nfcnorth

    Nessos,

You have described Flower as mean-spirited, irrational, and a climate change denier, and you said you would never take her off ignore. But it in this game, she's been pretty hard to ignore. What has it been like seeing her posts again in a mafia game, and will you finally admit that the anything you said about her before was wrong?

    - Kvothe Kingkiller

    SinRaven,

So not that I'm like curious or anything like that but please spill the tea on what's going on between you and Juan. Did something happen in the past I don't know about? Has a good sis been going behind my BACK? Explain yourself darling, otherwise I'll clip those little wings of yours and make sure you'll never be able to caw again.

    - Hayumi

    Melodie,

Do you think Santi hates on you because he's jealous that you're educated, because he just hates women, or for another reason? When did Santi's obsession with you start and more importantly, when will it finally end?

    - WAD

    Santi,

Since you became a mafia section mod, what is the #1 request you received, and why haven't you granted it? Doesn't refusing to adhere to the section's needs make you a bad section mod?

    - DDL

    Day 3 start
  • @JoJo (Lord Melkor) died!

    189517.jpg

    Baron Melkor
    alignment: innocent

[Passive - Mutineer] - Melkor's experience in evading authority protects him against lynch mobs.

[Passive - Tama Tama no Mi] - Melkor's devil fruit protects him against kills.

[Passive - Laying Low] - Melkor represents the Big Mom Pirates, but he isn't supposed to draw attention to his crew. If Melkor is targeted by 4 investigative abilities, he will leave the game to avoid endangering his plans.

[Passive - Leg Benedict] - If another player uses an investigative ability on Melkor, he will learn their name and roleblock them.

[Passive - Pirate Crew] - At the beginning of the game, a randomly chosen innocent player is made into Melkor's subordinate. Melkor will learn his subordinate's name and abilities, and Melkor will permanently learn who they use their abilities on.

[Active - Orders From Above] - During the night, Melkor can send an anonymous message through the moderator to his subordinate.

    @Lord Melkor (Natalija) died!

    272689.jpg

    Natalija
    alignment: innocent

[Passive - New Kid on the Block] - Natalija is new to NF, and the host is trying to look after her. If anyone casts suspicion or doubt against Nalaija in the game thread, then the host will defend her.

[Passive - Academy Student] - Natalija has not yet earned the respect of the mafia section, giving her 0 voting power.

[Passive - Becoming Hokage] - When Natalija helps lynch a guilty player, she will earn favor with other players, permanently granting her +3 voting power. When Natalija helps lynch an innocent player, she will lose favor, permanently reducing her voting power by 1.

[Conditional Active - Mafia Byakugan] - If Natalija achieves a voting power of 5 or more, then she will have mastered the game of mafia and learned to see through deception. Each night, Natalija can privately investigate 1 sentence from another player's post to learn whether it contained a lie or not.

@Legend (???) died, but his role was claimed by @Hayumi !

The game has been occupied and divided by an invading force. There will now be 2 lynches each day, but each player may only participate in 1 lynch. To vote in the first lynch, you will use the normal [vote lynch] command. To participate in the second lynch, you will use [vote lynch 2]. At the end of the day, your most recently cast vote will be considered your final vote, and that is the lynch you will be considered to be part of. If you have any questions, please ask the host for clarification.

A sinister and mysterious force reduced everyone's voting power by 1. Voting power is reaching critically low levels.

Day 3 will end 24 hours from now, at 9:40 PM central time on 8/30.

Day 3 start. You may now post.

Day 3 - RemChu dies New
  • RemChu (Go D. Usopp) has died!

    246720.jpg

    Go D. Usopp
    alignment: innocent

[Passive - Coward] - After day 3, Usopp will become overwhelmed by his fear, forcing him to leave the game. If a guilty player dies while Usopp is still in the game, then he will become emboldened, extending his time in the game by 1 cycle.

[Passive - Determination] - Usopp's willpower and endurance protect him against roleblocks and role crushes.

[Passive - Sniper] - Usopp has perfect aim, protecting his abilities against redirection.

[One Shot Active - Bagworm] - Usopp can trap another player inside a plant, role crushing them until Usopp either frees them, dies, or leaves the game.

[Active - Midori Boshi: Devil] - During the night Usopp can release a gargantuan, carnivorous plant to roleblock 3 players. Usopp's plant grows bigger over time, enabling him to roleblock an additional player for each night that passes (4 players on night 2, 5 players on night 3, etc.)

Day 3 - Lord Genome (Babby) and Aragorn (Flower) are lynched
  • Lord Genome (Babby) was lynched!

    217597.jpg

    Babby
    alignment: innocent

[Character Creation] - At the beginning of the game, Babby must create his character by choosing 1 race and 1 class, determining his abilities. Each class may only be combined with certain races.

[Race - Human] - Humans are talented leaders and diplomats, requiring a majority of lynch votes to be lynched.

[Race - Dwarf] - The dwarves can find treasure wherever it is hidden. When other players receive boosts or powerups, your abilities will also be improved.

[Race - Gnome] - The gnomes' small size makes them difficult to catch, protecting them against roleblocks.

[Race - Night Elf] - The night elves can use moonlight to hide themselves from the game. If you don't use an action during the night, then other players' abilities will fail on you for that night.

[Race - Orc] - The orcs' supernatural endurance protects them against role crushes.

[Race - Troll] - Trolls can regenerate from their wounds, granting them +1 bonus life.

[Race - Tauren] - The mighty tauren can stomp the ground to roleblock anyone who targets them for 1 night. This ability cannot be used 2 nights in a row.

[Race - Undead] - The cannibalistic undead can eat the remains of a dead player each night to learn which faction killed them.

[Class - Warrior] - Warriors wear heavy armor, granting you +2 bonus lives. Each night the warrior can defend another player, redirecting regular kills used against them to the warrior. Warriors can be of any race.

[Class - Rogue] - Rogues are criminals who scan guilty to investigations. Each night the rogue can investigate another player to learn the effect of 1 of their abilities. Once per game, the rogue can steal another player's ability for 1 cycle. Once per game, the rogue can poison another player, killing them 1 cycle later. Rogues can be trained by humans, dwarves, gnomes, night elves, orcs, trolls and undead.

[Class - Mage] - Mages can use time magic to slow another player each night, delaying any abilities used by them or against them by 1 cycle. Once per game, the mage can rewind time during the first 12 hours of a day phase to undo the previous night's actions. Mages can be trained by humans, gnomes, trolls and undead.

[Class - Priest] - Priests can use shadow magic to control another player each night, redirecting their abilities a player of the priest's choosing.

[Class - Hunter] - Each night the hunter can stalk another player to learn who they target. The hunter is also accompanied by an animal companion who will block the first kill used against the hunter, granting them +1 life. While the hunter's pet is alive, the hunter can send it to track a second player each night. Hunters can be trained by dwarves, night elves, orcs, trolls and tauren.

[Class - Druid] - The ancient druids can enchant another player with nature magic, permanently granting them +1 bonus life. If that player loses their bonus life, the druid will investigate that player to learn their alignment. The druid can only grant 1 bonus life at a time. Druids can only be trained by night elves and tauren.

[Class - Warlock] - Warlocks are dark wizards who can summon a demon to roleblock another player each night. Once per game, the warlock can permanently sacrifice their demon to superkill another player. Warlocks can be trained by humans, gnomes, orcs and undead.

[Class - Shaman] - Shaman are spiritual leaders who can use scrying magic to watch another player each night and learn who targets them. The first time the shaman is murdered, they will hide their own role from their murderer and from the game thread, and return to life 1 cycle later. Shaman can be trained by orcs, trolls and tauren.

[Class - Paladin] - Paladins are divine warriors who can resurrect 1 player. Paladins are also protected against against poisoning, disease and necromancy. Paladins can be trained by humans and dwarves.

Here is the role Lord Genome chose:

    Babby the Dwarf Hunter
    alignment: innocent

[Passive - Treasure Finding] - The dwarves can find treasure wherever it is hidden. When other players receive boosts or powerups, Babby's abilities will also be improved.

[Passive - Beast Mastery] - Babby is accompanied by an animal companion who will block the first kill used against him, granting Babby a bonus life. While Babby's pet is alive, Babby can also send it to using [Tracking] on a second player each night.

[Active - Tracking] - During the night, Babby can stalk another player to learn who they target.

    Aragorn (Flower) was lynched!

    272160.jpg

    Flower

    alignment: innocent

[Active - Seed Dispersal] - Each night, Flower can place a seed on another player.

[Passive - A Promising Garden] - Flower begins the game as a bud. When other players target Flower with non-lethal abilities, they will decide to water her instead. If Flower is watered for 2 different cycles, she will bloom, causing her to lose [A Promising Garden] and [Seed Dispersal] and gain the following abilities instead:

[Conditional Passive - Wilt] - If Flower is murdered, she will revert back to a bud, causing her to regain [A Promising Garden] and [Seed Dispersal] and lose access to the rest of her abilities.

[Conditional Active - Entangling Roots] - Each night, Flower can either place a seed on another player, or roleblock everyone who is already seeded.

Night 3 start. No more posting.

    Day 4 start
  • @SinRaven (Lord Genome) died!

    115735.jpg

    Lord Genome
    alignment: guilty

[Passive - A Fool's Bet] - Lord Genome has a nasty gambling habit. Each day Lord Genome must roll a 33 sided die, and for the rest of that day he can only vote for the player that corresponds to that number on the player list. If that player is already dead, then Lord Genome can vote for whoever he wants that day. For each cycle passed, Lord Genome can roll on 2 more players each day (so 3 players on day 2, 5 players on day 3, etc), and he can vote for any of the rolled players, or for whoever he wants if any of those players are dead. If Lord Genome is voting for another player when they are lynched, then he will have finally won his bet, causing him to lose this ability and gain the following abilities:

[Conditional Active - Drunken Fist] - Lord Genome can trade one vice for another by drinking himself into a stupor. During the night, Lord Genome can use this ability to attack another player, with a 50% chance to roleblock them and a 50% chance to kill them. If Lord Genome uses this ability two nights in a row, then on the second night he will have a 100% chance to superkill his target, but he will be role crushed by a hangover for the following cycle. If Lord Genome uses this ability, he will be too drunk to use any other abilities that night.

[Conditional Active - Salesman] - Lord Genome used to make his living peddling household appliances. During the night, Lord Genome can offer to grant another player one usage of any ability effect in exchange for giving him control over their voting power the next day. If Lord Genome's target accepts his deal and attempts to use the ability he gave them, they will discover that it doesn't work.

[Conditional Active - The Sleeping Dragon] - The longer the game goes, the closer Lord Genome comes to solving it. During the night, Lord Genome can investigate a number of players equal to the number of the current night phase, learning their alignment.

    @Dragon D. Luffy (Ratchet) died!

    257757.jpg

    Ratchet
    alignment: innocent

[Passive - Rune: Opila] - Ratchet uses this magical artifact to manipulate the abilities used by his fellow townies. If an innocent player roleblocks another innocent player, or if an innocent player protects a guilty player, then Ratchet will redirect their ability to himself.

[Conditional Active - Rune: Kenaz] - Ratchet siphons the energy out of roleblocks he absorbs to empower this destructive rune. For every 3 roleblocks used against Ratchet, he can use this rune during the night to role crush another player for that night and the following day. This ability bypasses roleblocks.

[One Shot Active - Rune: Sowilo] - Ratchet can use this rune to control the lynch mob, forcing them to choose between Ratchet and another player. Whichever one of those 2 players has the most lynch votes at the end of the day will be lynched. This ability must be used the previous night, or during the first 12 hours of the day phase.

    @nfcnorth (
    John Wayne) died!

    254257.jpg

    John Wayne
    alignment: innocent

[Passive - The Land of Make Believe] - John Wayne learned to play mafia in the Outskirts Battledome, and OBD mafia is a strange game. If another player uses an ability on John Wayne, that ability will have the opposite of its intended effect.

[Active - Research] - During the night, John Wayne can consult the OBD Wiki to investigate 1 ability from a writeup to learn its effect.

[Active - Calc Request] - Each night John Wayne can can investigate another player to learn the power level of their role on a scale from 1-3. Power levels are determined relative to the other roles in that player's faction.

3 innocent players betrayed the town last night, becoming guilty.

The Circle is complete. A Jester has entered the game.

A sinister and mysterious force reduced all players' voting power by 1. If you have reached negative voting power, your lynch votes will now count against lynching someone instead of in favor of lynching them. For example, if player A has -2 votes against them and player B has 0 votes against them, player B would be lynched. Please ask the host if you have any questions about this.

The dual-lynch system is in place for 1 more day.

Kira Yagami, WAD, Iwandesu, Natalija, Ratchet and Santi have all been invited to play a game of Survivor. Link: https://www.narutoforums.org/threads/members-mafia-survivor-island.1208885/

Day 4 start. You may now post.

Day 4 - A betrayal and a flight risk New
  • An innocent player has betrayed the town and become guilty.

The Mafia has begun siphoning power out of the game. For the next 2 cycles, kills will be reduced 1 tier in strength (regular kills will fail, superkills will become regular kills).

The mysterious and sinister force has temporarily fled the game.

    Game end New
  • Cooler (SinRaven) was lynched!

    :konancat Game end :konancat

The Church of the Raven (Cooler, WAD, SinRaven and Hayumi) has won the game!

    225595.jpg

    SinRaven

    alignment: guilty

[Passive - Yuumi] - SinRaven is hated for his role as Yuumi in League of Legends Mafia 3, causing him to require 1 less vote to be lynched.

[Passive - Bitter Rivalry] - SinRaven knows Melodie's identity. If another player attempts to roleblock or role crush SinRaven, he will redirect their ability to Melodie. If Melodie dies, her death will empower SinRaven, granting him permanent protection against roleblocks and role crushes.

[Four Shot Active - Son Raven Jesus] - During the night SinRaven can recruit another player to be his [Disciple], forcing them to adopt SinRaven's wincon and granting them the ability to communicate with SinRaven outside of the game thread. SinRaven and his [Disciples] win the game if SinRaven recruits 3 people, then gets lynched. SinRaven can only recruit members of the town, and if another player attempts to kill SinRaven, then he will redirect their ability to 1 of his [Disciples]. If SinRaven dies, his
[Disciples] will regain their original wincon. SinRaven's [Disciples] will also gain the following ability:

[Active - Crucify] - SinRaven's [Disciple] can use this ability during the day to grant them 1 extra voting power against SinRaven for that day phase.

Kvothe Kingkiller (Nevan) also won the game!

    225511.jpg

    Nevan
    alignment: guilty

[One Shot Passive - Enter The Realm of the Living] - When the game begins, Nevan's supernatural presence will grant all other players +1 voting power.

[One Shot Passive - Hadō #99: Goryūtenmetsu] - The first night that 1 or more players reach -1 voting power, Nevan will use this forbidden spell to kill those players.

[Passive - Reiatsu] - Nevan's powerful spiritual energy protects him against roleblocks and role crushes.

[Passive - Shinigami] - Every night, Nevan will weaken all other players' connection to the physical world, permanently reducing their voting power by 1. When another player reaches -2 voting power, Nevan will attempt to kill them. If another player reaches -3 voting power, Nevan will superkill them. Nevan wins the game if he survives until the final 5 players, or until the end of the game. If Nevan dies, the other players' voting power will return to normal.

[Active - Incorporeal] - Nevan can flee the mortal plane and return to Soul Society for the rest of the cycle, making him untargetable by abilities and protecting him against lynching. While in Soul Society, Nevan cannot use [Shinigami]. Nevan cannot use this ability 2 cycles in a row.

    :catmic Thanks for playing! :catmic

    MVPs New
  • Some quick closing thoughts, then I'm going to bed:

Despite some of you saying otherwise, I think the town roles were very strong in this game. However, I avoided some game mechanics that normally favor the town, such as not putting much game-solving information into the writeups. I can see where that may have given the impression that this game was harder than usual for the town faction.

The indies in this game were particularly strong. There were four indies, each with game-altering abilities and a strong chance at winning. I don't think the indies were overpowered, but they did exceed player expectations, and that may have been frustrating. At the very least, indie wins never go over well. Sometimes people like the idea of indies more than they like the reality of indies.

I thought it was commonly understood that jesters were game-ending, especially so when I went out of my way to bring attention to the jester's existence. Maybe I should have been more clear, but at the same time, nobody bothered to ask me about the jester, and I had already decided that I would tell you the jester was game-ending if only somebody thought to ask me.

When making this game, I was challenged a couple of times by people who felt like I couldn't rise to the same standard of "role madness" set by some other hosts here. I believe I proved them wrong, but admittedly, I did not enjoy it very much. I am looking forward to returning to the simpler, more carefully-made games that I'm known for.

I believe all the roles have been posted, unless I made a mistake and missed one. I will work on linking them in the OP for ease of access tomorrow. For now, though, I finally rest. :catnoworries
