    Game rules
  • TUSSJaR.png

    Basic rules

    1. Do not discuss the game outside of game thread unless given permission. The moderator will host a dead chat for eliminated players, and that is the only place eliminated players are allowed to discuss the game. Dead players cannot return to the game; there are no revive mechanics in this setup, and dead players will not be used as replacements.

    2. All phases will last for 24 hours. Day one will not be extended. Collectively, a 48 hour day+night phase is called a "cycle."

    3. Do not edit or delete your posts.

    4. Do not disrupt the game or flame other players. All forum rules apply.

    5. Do not screenshot or quote your private messages from the moderator. References to the text of your role PM must be paraphrased, not repeated word-for-word.

    6. There are no limits on role/ability claims.

    7. Votes must be phrased [vote lynch X] or [change vote lynch X] or I may overlook them.

    8. Failing to vote for another player will count as two votes toward yourself.

    9. If the player with the most votes at the end of the day is protected against lynching, then the lynch will pass to the player with the next highest amount of votes.

    10. There are no death millers in this game. If the moderator posts a dead player's alignment, then that alignment is certain to be true.

    11. If a player's alignment changes, it will always be mentioned in a writeup.

    12. The host is not playing in the game and cannot be lynched or targeted.

    13. Players can receive their own submission. That just means if someone rolls their own submission, I will not reroll it to another player.

    14. Abilities which target more than one player don't have to target every possible player, and can instead target as few players as you choose. For example if my ability can protect 3 players, I can use it to only protect 1 or 2 players.

    15. The host may make on-the-fly game balancing or ruleset changes if they deem it necessary.

    Advanced rules

    1. This game features two sub-phases called "Sunset" and "Sunrise." The last hour of the day phase is considered "Sunset," and the last hour of the night phase is considered "Sunrise." New votes and actions are not accepted during the Sunset and Sunrise phases. This just means you only have the first 23 hours of each day and night phase to vote or use abilities, and I will use the Sunset and Sunrise phases to prepare for the next phase change.

    2. During the day, actions are processed in the order they're received, and they're processed as soon as the host is able to do so. During the night, actions are processed at the end of the night phase, and in the following order:

    1. Role crushes
    2. Roleblocks
    3. Redirects
    4. Mafia & indie kills
    5. Town kills
    6. All other types of abilities

Abilities can interact "retroactively" with abilities higher on the processing list. For example, protective abilities can "retroactively" stop kills, even though kills are considered to go "before" protective abilities. The most important thing about this list is that it clarifies the way I process roleblocks and redirects. For example, hiders can be stopped by roleblocks, because the roleblock will apply "before" they can hide and redirect it. However, hiders cannot be stopped by kills, because kills apply "after" a Hider is able to hide and redirect the kill. Action processing is difficult to explain, so feel free to message me if you have any questions.

If players simultaneously target each other with nullifying affects, such as two players attempting to town-kill or roleblock each other during the same night, then neither ability will succeed. If a player dies, any abilities they tried to use that night will be dropped.

    3. There are three factions in this setup: town, red mafia, and purple mafia. The win conditions for each faction are as follows:

    Town
wincon: eliminate all threats to the town

    Mafia
wincon: eliminate all threats to your faction, or take control of the lynch

    Mafia
wincon: eliminate all threats to your faction, or take control of the lynch

Independent players aren't part of any faction, and will have their wincon explained in their role.

    4. The execution is equal-opportunity; in other words, everyone gets one vote for the execution, and abilities which affect voting power or the lynch usually cannot affect the execution. I am trying not to modkill anyone for inactivity this year, and instead give that power to you all through the execution. The game was designed for the execution to be the primary method of filtering out inactive players. Therefore, the execution is meant to be clean, simple and transparent, unlike the lynch which is much broader in scope, but subject to all sorts of riggory. At some point in the game I will most likely reduce the number of players made eligible for execution, to make sure it only targets genuinely inactive players.

If the execution truly goes awry from my plans and I think my mistake is causing a very active player to be undeservedly executed, I may even intervene to modify the rules and save that player. That is the worst case scenario, and I don't think it's likely, but I want to be clear about why I made this mechanic and how I will moderate it. The execution was made as a player-controlled replacement for activity-based modkills, not as a second lynch. You should be strategic about your execution choices, and town members should try to execute the most suspicious players, but if the execution does not fulfill its purpose of targeting inactive players then I will most likely change it.

    5. Some abilities in this game rely on certain conditions to be met, such as accumulating "stacks" of something or achieving specific interactions. If you have such an ability, you are primarily responsible for keeping track of the relevant information/conditions and presenting them to the moderator. I will not monitor these sorts of abilities myself, so you must take it upon yourself to not only earn them, but then show me how you earned them. For example, if you're supposed to gain a life every time someone posts "Foopy Doopy," you need to quote those messages and send them to me in your role PM in order to be awarded your extra lives. I will verify all the information you present to me, and anyone caught lying about their progress in an attempt to get ahead will be removed from the game.

    Special mechanics
  • 0Q0LcFJ.png

    1. The player list will be randomly divided into two entirely separate games, which will run on alternating phases. When one game has less than half its players remaining, both games will be combined back into one game. This should help make the game thread more manageable for everyone.

    2. From day 2 onward, every day phase will have two lynches that follow different rules. Lynch one will simply be referred to as "the lynch," and may only be applied to people who voted for the previous day's lynchee. For example, if @Kvothe Kingkiller is lynched on day 1, then on day 2, only people who voted for Kvothe are eligible for the lynch. Lynch two will be referred to as "the execution," and may only be applied to the four living players who had the lowest post count at the beginning of that day. At the beginning of each day, I will announce which players are eligible for lynching, and which players are eligible for execution. If you decide to sheep wagons or go inactive, you will be in danger. But the more astute among you may avoid ever being eligible for lynching or execution. Day 1 will simply feature one normal lynch which can be applied to anyone.

    3. All roles have a durability rating, granting them a total of two lives, three lives, or four lives. As you may imagine, roles with a lower durability rating may be compensated in other ways. Those of you who tend to attract stray kills will have at least one bonus life to spare. However, all superkills are still final, so don't get too bold.

    5. Every player will have a one-shot use Flash ability, which can be used at night defensively or offensively. A defensive Flash will cause all abilities to fail on you that night, except for abilities augmented by an offensive Flash. If you choose to use Flash offensively, then you must choose another player to Flash toward, and for that night your abilities are guaranteed to work on them. An offensive Flash is the only thing that can reliably overpower a defensive Flash. You can only use Flash once, so use it very, very wisely!

    6. All active abilities are classified as being either Physical, Magical or Tactical, according to that ability's flavor and source material. Abilities may have different interactions with each other depending on their classification. Passive abilities do not have classes.

    Glossary

This is a list of important ability terms you will encounter. Some of these terms are new, but some you will recognize.
[Bleed] - The affected player loses 1 life the next night. Bypasses normal defensive and protective abilities. Bleeds usually count as killing abilities for most ability terminology and phrasing purposes, but may be handled on a case-by-case basis.

[Bonus Lives] - Bonus lives effectively work as shields on top of your regular life count, meaning bonus lives are consumed before your regular lives. Bonus lives may be gained temporarily or permanently. For example if I have 3 lives and I'm temporarily given a bonus life for the night, then the first kill I received that night would consume my bonus life and leave me with the 3 lives I normally had.

[Counter] - Like a roleblock for a specific ability or effect. Attempts to apply a roleblock to that specific ability to stop it from working. For example if you try to kill me, I may counter your ability, causing that specific ability to be blocked but not affecting any other abilities you used. Counters are a type of roleblock, so abilities that protect against being blocked also protect against being countered.

[Disarm] - The affected player's killing abilities are blocked. Disarming is a type of roleblock, so abilities that protect against being blocked also protect against being disarmed.

[Heal] - Restores 1 life and cures bleeds. Heals apply after kills, so for example is you only have 1 life left and someone kills you, healing won't save you because you will die before you're healed. Healing cannot give a player more lives than their normal durability rating; if your durability rating is 3, and you still have all 3 lives, healing will not boost you to 4 lives. However if you lost a life and only had 2 left, healing could bring you back to 3 lives.

[Innate] - Superpassives! Passive abilities that are innate to the role and cannot be disabled/crushed/etc.

[Isolated] - The affected player cannot receive any friendly or helpful abilities from other players. They can still use abilities on themselves.

[Poison] - The victim is roleblocked the first night, role crushed the second night, and dies the third night. The kill bypasses normal defensive and protective abilities. Poisons do not count as killing abilities for ability terminology and phrasing purposes.

[Redirects] - Abilities which change the target of another ability. Players are told if their non-investigative abilities are redirected, but they are not told if investigative abilities are redirected. For example if your kill is redirected, you will be told who it was redirected to. But if your alignment scan is redirected, you won't know it was redirected at all.

[Role Crush] - Role crushes disable, or "crush," all non-innate abilities for a specific amount of time. Role crushes are considered an upgraded version of roleblocks, and if a role crush finds that its target is completely protected against being crushed, the role crush will try downgrading to a roleblock.

[Superkill] - A kill that bypasses all roleblocks, counters, protections etc. Can still be redirected. Can only consume up to 3 lives at time, so roles with the highest durability rating (4) can potentially survive a superkill. If someone survives a superkill, they will bleed. Superkills are considered an upgraded version of regular kills, and if a superkill finds that its target is completely protected against superkills, the superkill will try downgrading to a regular kill.

[Vote Tampering] - Abilities which affect votes during the day phase. These types of abilities usually only affect the lynch votes, and cannot affect the execution. Common examples include vote silencing, which reduces someone's voting power to 0, and vote theft, which transfers all of someone's voting power to another player. Players are notified when they are vote silenced, but not when their voting power is stolen.

[Vulnerable] - The affected player's defensive and self-protective abilities are blocked. They can still be protected by other players. Vulnerability is a type of roleblock, so abilities that protect against being blocked also protect against vulnerability.

    Foreword
  • Hello kings, queens and all the... in-betweens.

With just a few agonizing hours left until Favorites, I've updated the OP with some thrilling new information. For those of you who already read the OP, I'll summarize the new additions here so you don't need to reread everything:

    1. Extra lives act like shields, meaning they're consumed before your regular/natural lives.

    2. If a role crush or superkill are protected against, they will "try again" as a roleblock or normal kill respectively to see if that goes through.

    3. You will be notified about redirections on your non-investigative abilities, but not on your investigative abilities.

    4. You will be notified if you are vote silenced, but not if your voting power is stolen.

    5. Multi-targeted abilities can affect your chosen number of players. ie if an ability can target up to 3 players, you can choose to only use it on 1 or 2 players.

    6. Bleeds usually count as kills for most terminology, poisons do not.

Now, some final words before we begin:

    1. Forum display settings - Fanverse's default settings have gotten worse in recent years, and I heavily recommend changing your forum skin to "Naruto Legacy." This is the skin that I designed the text and visuals for. To change your skin, click on your username in the top right of the website, select "preferences" in the drop-down menu, and then change the "Style" setting at the top of the preferences page to "Naruto Legacy." In the middle of this same page you can change the "posts per page" setting, which some people also prefer to set higher.

    2. I am publicly committing to full role randomization. No roles in this game were assigned or divvied out in a particular fashion.

    3. The role bank for this game is in the signup thread, here. As you can see, there are more signups than actual players, and I crossed off the names of players who signed up and then withdrew, but their submissions are still in the role bank. Some submissions from players who dropped out are still included in the game, and in some cases, both submissions from one player may appear.

    4. If you become busy or need a day off, let me know in advance and I can try to spare you from the execution for a day.

    5. Every host makes mistakes in every game, and this game will be no different. Please be patient with me.

    6. The red and purple mafia teams are separated into groups 1 and 2, respectively. When the groups are combined, the two towns merge into one town while the red and mafia teams become enemies, and the game becomes a multiball.

    6. Finally, have fun! The golden age of mafia in our community is happening right now. Some day, you will look back and miss these times. Appreciate them while they're here!

    Day 0 start
  • Hello, and welcome to the finale of the twelfth annual Favorites! Congratulations on making it this far.

I wish I could celebrate with you all, but I have a confession... I... made a mistake. I mean, I counted all the votes correctly, and all the right people died but... I can't help but feel something is missing. Like I let one of you go too soon! They say you never know what you have until it's gone, and I've got a bad case of the regrets!

Unfortunately, I can't do anything about it... but you can. You see, I'm not the only one with regrets!

Every time an innocent player was eliminated, I invited them to compete for the chance to return to the game. Two of them accepted, and today, those two players will use the thread as their personal battleground to prove they deserve a second chance.

After 24 hours, their "day" phase will end, and we will enter a "night" phase where every living player will publicly vote for which contestant is more deserving of the chance to return. The player with the most votes at the end of the night will rejoin the game, and day 1 of the Finals will begin.

    Now let's meet our contestants!

From group 1 we have @Shrike , whose grand ambitions backfired on him and robbed him of his hard-earned place in the finale at the last minute.

From group 2 we have @Nessos , who is here to redeem his disappointing performance in group 2. Nessos is the underdog in this competition, and I just love a comeback story.

Before we begin, I want to say that both Shrike and Nessos are some of the strongest players in our community, and I hope you will all give them both the attention and consideration they deserve. They both have what it takes to solve this game.

Now, @Nessos and @Shrike , you may have the floor.

Everyone else, do not post yet.

    Day 0 - Rule change
  • Hello hello,

it's a good thing Nessos is here, because I've got big news!

Shrike was so excited to show everything he's got, but his facial appointment ran late! Now, you know that's a problem I can sympathize with, so I'm going to alter the format to give you all more intimate time with our contestants!

Voting was set to begin in 2 hours, at the normal phase change time, but will instead begin effective immediately. During this time, you may talk to our contestants in real-time in this thread! Voting will last for 25.5 hours from now, ending at the normal phase change time tomorrow.

Once the voting is finished, I will declare the winner, and the first day phase of the finale will begin. Remember this is technically an intermission phase and you'll still have to play a real day phase after this, so after you've voted for Nessos or Shrike, take the chance to enjoy a small break before the final stretch!

To answer some commonly-asked questions from the past 24 hours:

    1. Some of you in group 1 are still waiting on information from the final night phase. I apologize for the delay, I was eager to enjoy my break from doing phase changes so I only handled the most crucial actions and left the others to be finished later. All actions will be finished before day 1 begins.

    2. Those of you in group 2 do not have a final night phase; your game ended after its day phase, and you will go straight into another day phase. All pertinent ability effects, such a [Marked for Death], will persist across the new day.

The voting commands today are [vote Nessos] and [vote Shrike].

    Countdown to phase change

    You may all now post!

    Day 1 start
  • Excellent! Having strategically guilt-tripped @Shrike into forfeiting, @Nessos is your returning competitor!

The lynch will be open to everyone today, including @Juan , and there will be 2 executions today from a pool of the bottom 2 players in groups 1 and 2. Those are:

    1. @Revan Reborn
    2. @Cooler
    3. @Kira Yagami
    4. @sworder

After today, lynch and execution rules will return to normal, and the execution will be based solely on post counts in this thread. Meaning, even if you have the most posts in your previous group, you can still be put up for execution tomorrow if you are one of the bottom 4 posters today. On the other hand, if you were eligible for execution already, this thread will put you back on even footing with everyone else

Day 1 of the Finals starts in 7 minutes.

Day 1 - Vanya is Rome
  • Hello everyone, I have an announcement:

It's no secret that the town's designated mason group fell through this game, leaving @Vanya stranded. That's not fair to Vanya- he shouldn't be stuck on an ineffective role just because the other 2/3 of his role were players who bailed early- so I am shifting Vanya from a mason to an innocent child.

@Vanya is Rome, and he is part of the town. Vanya's role has also been reworked to be less reliant on his two mason partners.

@Nessos , obviously, is also an innocent child by nature of how he returned.

Day 1 - Sworder (Tara) dies
  • @sworder (Tara Markov) died!
    864719275.png

    Tara Markov
    from Teen Titans
    durability rating: 3

    [Passive - Titan Rising] -
Tara is a famous superhero, granting her a voting power of 2. Every time Tara successfully stops a harmful ability or saves another player's life, stories of her heroic feats will circulate and Tara will permanently gain an extra voting power.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - Titans Tower] - During the day Tara can retreat to Titans Tower, the home base for her superhero team. For that day Tara will be vote silenced, and for the rest of the cycle Tara will be protected against harmful abilities, but she cannot use any other abilities. Harmful abilities stopped by [Titans Tower] will not trigger [Titan Rising]. Tara will rest while inside Titans Tower, enabling her to regain an expended charge of one of her other limited-use abilities. If Tara is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, she will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[Two Shot Active - Physical - Mud Slide] - During the night Tara can create a mud slide to roleblock 4 other players.

[Two Shot Active - Physical - Rock Wall] - During the night Tara can raise a wall around herself and 3 other players, granting everyone affected an extra life for that night. Players who do not have their bonus life consumed will also be protected against all other types of harmful physical abilities, such as roleblocks, that night.

[Active - Physical - Hand-to-Hand Combat] - During the night, Tara can brawl with another player, countering their harmful physical abilities. If Tara counters an ability, she will also disarm that player's physical abilities for the next cycle.

[Two Shot Active - Magma Fist] - Tara can imbue her attacks with magma. For that night, [Hand-to-Hand Combat] will be altered to roleblock Tara's target instead of applying its normal effects. If Tara's target is vulnerable that night, she will kill them instead.

  • @Revan Reborn (Onlyfans.com) and @Cooler (The Thing) were executed!
    How-to-start-an-OnlyFans.jpg

    Onlyfans.com
    from real life
    durability rating: 3

    [Active - Tactical - Exclusive Content] -
During the day, Onlyfans can invite another player to show their tight role. That player can choose one ability to show, and the effects of that ability will be posted in the game thread. Content creators usually want to remain anonymous, so all identifying information and flavor text will be edited out of their ability, and its effects will be described in generic mafia terms. Onlyfans cannot use this ability more than once on each player.

[Innate - The Internet is for Porn] - Onlyfans is everyone's favorite kind of website, granting it a voting power of 2. When Onlyfans uses [Exclusive Content] on a new player it will attract more viewers, permanently granting it an extra voting power.

[Innate - The bigger the data, the harder it falls] - When Onlyfans is attacked, it suffers data leaks. If another player removes a life from Onlyfans, they will learn the real, unedited text of one randomly chosen ability that was broadcasted by [Exclusive Content].

@Soul , I've always enjoyed your posts in the Battledome, so I was very excited when you joined Favorites. I rooted for you every step of the way, and you did not disappoint! You should be proud of how far you made it in this game, and I hope it gave you a taste for more mafia. We would love to see more of you! And for once, that's not just an innuendo!

Now my dear, it's your time to sashay away.

If Cheth's opponent gets the most votes, he will mark them with [To the Victor Go the Spoils] and [Terrestrial Temper Tantrum].

    @Didi (Melodie) was lynched!
    213583.jpg

    Melodie
    from real life
    durability rating: 4

[Innate - Mellow No More] -
Melodie used to be part of the Academy, which is the real name of the purple mafia team. When Melodie realized the Academy's evil plans she betrayed them, but Melodie's fellow scientists overpowered her and eliminated her free will, or so they thought. Melodie forgot the names of her former teammates, and Melodie is forced to carry out their faction kills every night, but Melodie retained enough sentience to covertly work against the Academy. Melodie wins the game if she's alive and all members of the Academy are dead. If Melodie wins the game, the game will not end.

[Innate - Mecha Melodie] - The Academy transformed Melodie into a cyborg, protecting her against kills, bleeds and poisons.

[Innate - MeloDIE] - Melodie is a tool for the Academy; they will be warned by the host not to trust Melodie, but they also rely on her to carry out their faction kills. Melodie will learn who she is forced to kill every night, and Melodie may also receive messages from the Academy. If the Academy decides Melodie is no longer useful, they can deactivate her to remove her from the game at any point.

[Active - Tactical - The Many Memories of Melodie] - Melodie can observe other players to see if they trigger her memories. During the night, Melodie can investigate another player to learn their alignment.

[Active - Tactical - A Melodic Sound] - During the day and during the night, Melodie can implant a secret 5-word message in another player. If that player dies that phase, they will broadcast Melodie's message in the game thread upon dying. Melodie can use this ability once each phase.

[Active - Tactical - Help MElodie] - During the day or during the night Melodie can attach a 5-word message to another player, and for the rest of the cycle anyone who visits that player will receive Melodie's message.

[Innate - A Melodie in Low Key] - Melodie doesn't want to draw the attention of the Academy, so she cannot the same limited-use ability 2 cycles in a row. If Melodie is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined the Academy will give her a tune-up, giving her 2 more charges of all her limited-use abilities.

[Two Shot Active - Tactical - Melodie Sees All] - During the night, Melodie can deploy her advanced ocular technology to use [The Many Memories of Melodie] on 2 players.

[Two Shot Active - Tactical - This Is Melodie's Last Resort] - During the day, Melodie can forcibly acces a closed-off part of her programming to learn the names of everyone who received her message from [Help MElodie] the previous cycle. Melodie can also broadcast a second 5-word message to all those players.

[Two Shot Active - Physical - Melodie's Gambit] - During the night, Melodie can fire her weapons to kill another player.

@Didi , you were truly one of my favorites this year. Thank God you made classic NFers look good this year, because most of the rest of them flopped horribly! You put up a great fight, and the game was better for having you.

    Now my dear, sashay away.

Didi is the first person to officially lose the twelfth-annual Favorites.

    [Active - Physical - Are you a righty or a lefty?] -
During the day the Broken Sword can be wielded by another player, marking them with [Hey, watch where you're swinging me!]. The Broken Sword wants to be held by many different hands, so it cannot choose the same player 2 days in a row.

    Sabrina Spellman
    from Sabrina the Teenage Witch
    durability rating: 2

    [One Shot Passive - A Father's Love] -
Sabrina's father went traveling for work, but he placed a protective charm on Sabrina before he left. Sabrina's durability rating is only 2, but she begins the game with a bonus life, for a total of 3 lives. If Sabrina is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, she will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[Innate - The Wisdom of a Cat] - Sabrina is accompanied by her pet sorcerer-turned-cat, Salem, who helps guide her. If Sabrina is affected by any negative abilities, such as roleblocks, bleeds or vote silencers, the host will give Sabrina a tip about how she can avoid that effect in the future.

[Passive - The Pineapple Problem] - When Sabrina is nervous, she accidentally turns other players into pineapples. If someone outside of Sabrina's team uses a physical or magical ability on her, Sabrina will learn their name, roleblock them, and mark them with [You're ruining my life!]. This block is a magical effect.

[You're ruining my life!] - This player recently tried to ruin Sabrina Spellman's life! This mark expires at the end of the next night.

[Active - Tactical - Ensemble Cast] - During the day Sabrina can hang out with one of her teammates. For the rest of the cycle, Sabrina and her teammate can discuss the game with each other outside of the game thread, and Sabrina will apply [The Wisdom of a Cat] and [The Pineapple Problem] to them.

[Active - Tactical - The Sisters Spellman] - During the night Sabrina can consult her aunts, Hilda and Zelda, for advice about her problems. Hilda and Zelda will help Sabrina investigate 2 players marked by [You're ruining my life!] to learn their roles and abilities. If Sabrina would be murdered by another player then Hilda and Zelda will sacrifice themselves to save her, permanently disabling this ability.

[Active - Magical - Long Distance Witchcraft] - During the day or during the night, Sabrina can message one of her teammates through the host to send them one of the roles she learned from [The Sisters Spellman]. Sabrina can use this a total of two times each cycle, and she can choose to use it twice in one phase.

[Two Shot Active - Magical - Be a dummy, be a fool, switch off your brain and please don't drool!] - During the night, Sabrina can cast a spell to roleblock 4 players and mark them all with [You're ruining my life!]. Sabrina cannot use this ability 2 nights in a row. If Sabrina is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, she will gain 2 extra charges of this ability.

[Active - Magical - Practical Magic] - During the night, Sabrina can cast a spell on another player to either disarm them, make them vulnerable, or isolate them. Sabrina's power will grow throughout the game, so the amount of players she can use this ability on is equal to the cycle number. For example, on the second night Sabrina can use this ability on 2 players, on the third night 3 players, and so on.

    @Saturday
    @Santí
    @Lord Melkor

@John Wayne would normally be eligible for execution today, but he warned me he would be busy a couple of days ago and asked for an activity pardon, which I granted. As the fourth lowest poster, Lord Melkor took his place today.

@Draekke was marked for death! He will be superkilled tonight. However, other players can visit him tonight disperse to the damage out among themselves and save him. Beware that those of you who choose to help him may take some damage in the process!

@SoulKiller , @John Wayne , @Ekkologix , @Kira Yagami , @Badalight and @Santí were all booby trapped tonight. Anyone who visits them tonight will be role crushed for the next cycle. Your ability can still succeed tonight, because the role crush will take place the next 2 phases, not tonight.

Since the phase is starting 15 minutes late, I will extend voting by 30 minutes to make up for the lost time. Votes will lock 30 minutes before phase change.

I am still sending out information from the night phase. Expect that over the next couple of hours.

  • Hello my fragrant friends,

They say your vote doesn't matter, but they're wrong! And today, it matters more than ever. Because there's a grassroots movement in this very game that wants to change everything!

I have astutely ascertained a growing sentiment that the execution has... overstayed its welcome. That you don't need it anymore! Well the execution is yours, meaning you can decide to abolish it.

However... the execution has feelings too! It's been here with you since day 1, and it won't take kindly to being thrown out! So once you abolish the execution, it's gone for good.

Today and every day from hereon, I am introducing a new command: [Vote No Execute]. If this option receives more votes than any of the execution candidates, there will be no execution that day or ever again.

Oh and... a friendly reminder. The game is balancing on a pin needle right now. The choices you make today may set in motion a series of events that ultimately decide the winner of this game.

So... good luck! And don't fuck it up!

Night 3 - Draekke (Translate), Juan (Roy Haylock) and Melkor (Bernkastel) die
  • @Draekke (Google Translate), @Juan (Roy Haylock) and @Lord Melkor (Bernkastel) died tonight!
    screen-shot-2020-02-03-at-1-51-13-pm_orig.png

    Google Translate
    from real life
    durability rating: 3

[Active - Tactical - Bathroom in Spanish?] -
During the day Google Translate can offer its translation services to another player. That player can choose to translate one of their ablities into a different language, and the next time they use that ability, its effects will be reversed. For example, kills would become protections, and vice verse. Google Translate will not learn the effects of its translations.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - Netizens of the World] - Google Translate can improve its translation services for one day. For that day, Google Translate will learn the effects of its translation, it will improve the ability it translated, and Google Translate will gain a limited-use ability based on translated ability. If Google Translate is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, it will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[Active - Tactical - Machine Learning] - During the night, Google Translate can investigate another player to learn what language their role speaks and permanently mark them with [Big Data]. If Google Translate perceives a new language, it will gain a limited-use ability based on the language it learned. Google Translate can only use this ability once on each player.

[Big Data] - This player's browsing data is being stored.

[Active - Tactical - Datamining] - During the night Google Translate can investigate one player marked by [Big Data] to learn who they visited the previous 2 nights.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - Relational Algebra] - Google Translate can improve its algorithm, enabling it to use [Datamining] on 2 players that night. If Google Translate is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, it will gain an extra charge of this ability.

    Roy Haylock
    from real life
    durability rating: 3

[Innate - I will show you versatility when Santino wins a sewing competition, and Visage wears a fucking turtleneck!] -
Roy Haylock is better known as Bianca Del Rio, winner of season six of RuPaul's Drag Race. Bianca's one weakness as a contestant was her lack of versatility, so Bianca can never use any abilities or items that aren't her own.

[Passive - Condragulations Bianca, you are the winner of this week's challenge!] - Bianca holds the rare distinction of winning RuPaul's Drag Race without ever being up for elimination. Bianca will not be made eligible to be lynched.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - The Host Roast] - During the night, Bianca can challenge up to nine other players to compete in the legendary Host Roast, which is a celebration where the "guest of honor" (in this case me, the moderator) is subjected to good-natured ridicule by the participants. An example roast, which demonstrates both successful and unsuccessful performances, will be posted in the game thread. Your jokes should be made at my expense, but most importantly, they need to be funny. The roast participants will have the following day to prepare, and then that night each participant will get one post to share their host roast. Any participants who do not make a post will be modkilled. The moderator will then choose the "winner" and "losers" of the roast, based on whose roasts the moderator liked and disliked the most. The winner will permanently have their abilities improved, while both losers will be made eligible for lynching and execution the next day. This ability cannot be blocked.

[Active - Tactical - BOLOGNA!!!] - During the day, Bianca can quote one sentence from another player's post and yell "BOLOGNA!!!" at them to accuse them of lying. If Bianca's target was lying, Bianca will vote silence and roleblock them for the rest of the day. If Bianca's target was not lying, this ability will have no effect. Bianca will not be told which effect was applied.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - Rolodex of Hate] - Bianca can come up with a witty zinger, enabling her to use [BOLOGNA!!!] on 2 players that day. If Bianca helps lynch a guilty player, she will gain an extra charge of this ability. If Bianca is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, she will gain an extra charge of this ability.

Here are the extra abilities Juan won in the Host Roast:
[Innate - Rigor Morris] - Bianca knows how to navigate production's sneaky tricks! Bianca is protected against abilities that nominate her for lynching.

[Passive - Frontrunner] - If Bianca helps lynch a guilty player, the the producers will give her a favorable edit for that episode. The next day, everyone who votes for the same person as Bianca will have an extra voting power for that day.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - Showing Vulnerability] - The judges want to see a dynamic and layered performance from Bianca. During the night Bianca can protect herself against all harmful abilities, but the next day she will be added to the lynch pool.

    Bernkastel
    from Umineko When They Cry
    durability rating: 2

[Innate - The Magic of Miracles] -
Bernkastel can reverse time to protect herself, as long as the chance of her surviving is not zero. If Bernkastel does not receive enough damage to kill her in one night, she will not sustain any damage from kills or bleeds.

[Innate - Manifestation of Magic] - When Bernkastel saves another player from dying, she permanently gains one stack of [Tempting Fate]. If Bernkastel is murdered, her role will be revealed but her death will be delayed by one phase for each stack of Tempting Fate she has.

[Tempting Fate] - Bernkastel is changing her own destiny!

[Active - Magical - Cat Furniture Collision] - During the night, Bernkastel can summon cat furniture to protect herself or another player against kills and mark them with [Cat Lover].

[Cat Lover] - This player is a cat furniture connoisseur! If Bernkastel uses [Cat Furniture Collision] on a different player, it will also affect this player. This mark expires at the end of the next night.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - Crazy Cat Lady] - Bernkastel can push her power to its limit, enabling her to use [Cat Furniture Collision] on 2 players that night. If Bernkastel is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, she will gain an extra charge of this ability.

Lord Melkor redeemed 2 stacks of [Tempting Fate] to delay his death by 1 cycle. He will die at end of night 4.

    Day 4 start
  • @SoulKiller was marked for death! He will be superkilled tonight. However, other players can visit him tonight to disperse the damage out among themselves and save him. Beware that those of you who choose to help him may take some damage in the process!

@DrProfessor83 , @Ekkologix , @Santí , @Kira Yagami , @Badalight , @Lord Melkor , @Lind and @John Wayne were all booby trapped! Anyone who visits them tonight will be role crushed for the next cycle.

Day 4 - Lynch rule change
  • Hello hello,

I love rice, I love spice, and I love to roll the dice!

The execution isn't the only lynch mechanic here that's starting to... show its age. Why, this limited lynch pool mechanic is almost as old and used up as @Laix ! And just like we replaced Laix with a younger and prettier host (it's me, I'm the younger and prettier host), I'm here to replace that dusty old noose with something shiny and new!

Today is the last day we will abide by the old lynch pool rules. Every day after today, you will instead elect a king or queen who will single-handedly decide the lynch.

Like in days past, you will all have 23 hours to cast votes during the day, but your votes will nominate a king or queen instead of a lynchee. In the final hour of the day, the elected player will single-handedly decide who is lynched.

If you think you may be elected but you won't be around at the end of the day, you will want to send your choice of lynch in advance. If the elected player does not make a choice in time, the responsibility will instead pass to the player with the next most votes.

Oh and, one more thing... we've got term limits, y'all! You cannot elect the same player two days in a row. There is no limit to the number of times someone can be elected, as long as they wait a day between each turn.

    Shocking, isn't it?!

Day 4 - John Wayne (Gordon Freeman) is lynched
  • @John Wayne (Gordon Freeman) was lynched!
    ZVWawK9.jpg

    Gordon Freeman
    From Half-Life

    durability rating: 4

    [Active - Tactical - Fixer Upper] -
Gordon is responsible for maintaining the academy’s original creations. During the night, Gordon can visit 2 of his creations to protect them against roleblocks, redirects and controlling abilities. Gordon will also mark them with [Photon Barrier].

[Photon Barrier] - If this player is targeted with a block, crush, redirect or control ability, the player who deployed this barrier will gain one stack of [The Photon Dance]. This mark expires at the end of the next night.

[The Photon Dance] - Gordon Freeman is manipulating photons! If Gordon reaches 5 stacks, he will automatically consume them to gain an extra charge of [Now You’re Thinking With Photons].

[One Shot Active - Physical - Now You’re Thinking With Photons] - During the day or during the night, Gordon can harvest the power of photons to either cure all his creations or one of his non-creation teammates of all negative ability effects such as poisons, role crushes and bleeds. Gordon can also busdrive his targets with other players, redirecting abilities used on them to those players and vice verse for the rest of the cycle.

[Two Shot Active - Tactical - Working Overtime] - Gordon can stay late at work, enabling him to use [Fixer Upper] on all his creations that night. Gordon must rest, so he can’t use this ability 2 nights in a row. If Gordon is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain 2 more charges of this ability.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - 9 AM Meeting] - Gordon can host a mandatory work meeting to improve [Now You’re Thinking With Photons], causing it to affect all his teammates. If Gordon is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - Pet Project] - Gordon can choose one of his creations as his favorite, tethering that creation to himself. If Gordon's target dies, their death will be delayed until Gordon also dies. If Gordon is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[One Shot Active - Physical - Taking Matters into your Own Hands] - Gordon can remind Melodie that she is disposable. For that night Gordon will personally perform the faction kill, and he will upgrade the kill to a superkill. Melodie will be warned this was done to keep her in line. If Gordon is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain an extra charge of this ability.

John Wayne, you are kind, you are fine, and now in the dead chat you'll be all mine! I truly enjoy your company, and I enjoy hosting for you. Thank you for another year of good times.

    Now, you must sashay away.

His pet projects, @Iwandesu (A Sentient 7) and @Hero (Envy), left the game with him.

    A Sentient 7
    from real life
    durability rating: 2

[Innate - Math is Inevitable] -
The power of math grows over time. At the end of even numbered night phases, the Sentient 7 will permanently increase its own durability rating by 1 and then heal itself. The Sentient 7's durability rating cannot increase past 5.

[Active - Tactical - All The World's a Database] - During the night the Sentient 7 can begin converting another player into data, marking them with [First World Problems]. In the writeup, the host will announce that a Sentient 7's target is going to be superkilled, and that other players can save them by visiting them to accept some of the damage themselves. The Sentient 7 cannot use this ability on the same player 2 nights in a row, and the Sentient 7 cannot use this ability on the same target as [Crystal Math].

[First World Problems] - This player is being converted into data. During the next night, they will be superkilled and this mark will expire. Other people can visit this player in the night to disperse the damage among themselves. If only 2 other players visit them, all 3 of them will be killed and they will all bleed. If between 3 and 5 players visit, they will all just be killed. If more than 5 players visit, they will all be made vulnerable instead.

[Active - Physical - Crystal Math] - During the night the Sentient 7 can begin destabilizing the matter around another player, marking them with [Math Addict] at the end of the night. In the writeup, the host will announce that a Sentient 7's target is booby trapped, and that anyone who visits them will be role crushed for the next cycle. The number of players the Sentient 7 can use this ability on corresponds to the cycle number; on night 2 the Sentient 7 can use this ability on 2 players, on night 3 it can be used on 3 players, and so on. The Sentient 7 cannot use this ability on the same player 2 nights in a row, and the Sentient 7 cannot use this ability on the same target as [All The World's a Dababase].

[Math Addict] - This player is destabilized! If another player visits them, that player will be role crushed for the following cycle. This mark expires at the end of the next night. The Sentient 7 cannot use this ability on the same target as [All The World's a Database].

[Passive - Rule of Threes] - On every 3rd night, the Sentient 7 can use [All The World's a Database] on 2 players.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - Mathematical Breakthrough] - The Sentient 7 can achieve a breakthrough in computing, enabling it to use each [All The World's a Database] and [Crystal Math] on an extra player that night. If the Sentient 7 is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, it will gain an extra charge of this ability.

    Envy
    from Fullmetal Alchemist
    durability rating: 4

    [Passive - Jealousy Isn't Pretty] -
Envy is envious of humans' ability to form positive relationships with each other. If Envy visits another player on the same phase that a different player uses a protective or helpful ability on them, Envy will counter that ability and learn its effects. This counter is a physical effect.

[Active - Tactical - The Study of Humans] - Envy can study other players to learn how to imitate them. During the day, Envy can investigate 2 players to learn their roles and abilities, and if successful Envy will permanently mark them with [In My Skin].

[In My Skin] - Envy can impersonate this player.

[Two Shot Active - Tactical - PHD in People] - Envy can intensify his studies, enabling him to use [The Study of Humans] on 4 players that day. Envy needs rest, so he cannot use this ability 2 days in a row. If Envy is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain 2 more charges of this ability.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - The Shot Heard Round The World] - During the night, Envy can enact his greatest scheme to sabotage the town. For that night, Envy will corrupt the results of investigative abilities used on or by players marked with [In My Skin]. If Envy is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[Active - Tactical - Shapeshifter] - During the night, Envy can use his shapeshifting powers to impersonate one player marked by [In My Skin], permanently marking them with one stack of [Infamy]. For that night and the next day, Envy will redirect investigative abilities used on him to the player he's impersonating. For that night, Envy can submit fake actions for his target's abilities, and if that player is tracked they will appeared to have used Envy's actions instead of their own.

[Infamy] - Envy is impersonating this player, ruining their reputation. If this player has 2 stacks of Infamy, they will appear guilty to alignment investigations. If this player has 3 stacks of Infamy, they will be permanently isolated.

[Active - Tactical - Starting a War] - During the night Envy can lay a trap for 2 players, redirecting their investigative abilities to a player of Envy's choosing for the rest of the cycle.

[Two Shot Active - Tactical - The Best Laid Plans] - During the day Envy can start preparing an advanced trap, enabling him to use [Starting a War] on 4 players that night. If Envy is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain 2 more charges of this ability.

With Iwandesu dead, @SoulKiller is no longer marked for death, and everyone else is freed of their booby traps.

    Kingmaker lynch rules
  • Hello hello,

Some of you have burning questions! Why, they're burning almost as badly as @Laix 's crotch after Pride this year! And I'm here to answer them!

Here are the details about how the new kingmaker-style lynch will work:

    1. For the first 23 hours of the day, you will vote with the command [vote crown PlayerName]. The player with the most votes when votes lock will be named king or queen, and will have the remaining hour to decide who will be lynched. The same person cannot be crowned 2 days in a row.

    2. The king or queen will name a lynchee, and as many backup lynchees as they want. You can be specific about the order these backups should be used in. If you think you may be elected and you won't be here at the end of the day, you should send these to me in advance.

    3. If the king or queen does not choose anyone, or if they do not provide enough backup lynchees, the responsibility will pass to the player with the next most votes, and so on until a lynch can be found.

Oh and... one more thing. The king or queen can say whatever they want in the thread, but their final lynch command will be given in their PM. So... good luck! And don't fuck it up.

[Active - Physical - Mommy Shark] - During the night, Gawr Gura can shield 2 players with her body to protect them against kills and permanently mark them with [Gawr Gura is Great!].

[Gawr Gura is Great!] - This player is a Gawr Gura fan! If this player investigates Gawr Gura's alignment, she will appear to be innocent.

[One Shot Active - Magical - Hololive Changes Lives] - Hololive can help its viewers find community and healing. If Gawr Gura is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, she will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[Active - Tactical - They accepted me as one of their own] - Gawr Gura uses Hololive to convince everyone that she is human. If another player posts in the game thread saying that Gawr Gura is a human or that Gawr Gura is playing as a human role, Gawr Gura can send their post to the host that day to gain an extra charge of [Hololive Changes Lives].

Lord Genome's dog, Mr. P, when Lord Genome has foolishly left an unwrapped and unattended McGriddle within line of sight of him
    from real life
    durability rating: 4

[One Shot Passive - James Genome to the Rescue] -
If Mr. P would be murdered then his owner, Lord Genome, will save him. For one cycle Mr. P cannot use any abilities or be affected by any abilities, and at the end of the cycle, Mr. P will be restored to 4 lives and cured of any negative status effects. If Mr. P is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[Active - Tactical - An Unwise Owner] - During the night Mr. P can sniff for the McGriddle left near him, marking him with [McGriddle Madness]. Mr. P cannot use this ability the same night as any other abilities.

[McGriddle Madness] - Mr. P is going crazy for a McGriddle, enabling him to use [Dastardly Dog Dash] and [Howl] for the next 2 nights. After 2 nights Mr. P will forget about the McGridde, and this mark will expire.

[Conditional Active - Physical - Dastardly Dog Dash] - During the night Mr. P can dart underneath 2 players to disarm them and mark them with [Mr. P!!!]. Mr. P cannot use this ability the same night as [Howl].

[Mr. P!!!] - This player is angry at Mr. P! This mark expires at the end of the next night.

[Conditional Active - Tactical - Howl] - During the night Mr. P can unleash an ear-splitting howl to protect himself against kills. Players marked by [Mr. P!!!] will be so annoyed at Mr. P that any kills they use that night will be redirected to him. Mr. P will not redirect superkills. Mr. P cannot use this ability the same night as [Dastardly Dog Dash].

    Y'shtola Rhul
    from Final Fantasy
    durability rating: 3

    [Innate - Miqo'te] -
Y'shtola is revered for her knowledge of magic and language. If Y'shtola's alignment is investigated, she will appear to be innocent. If someone outside of Y'shtola's team uses a helpful ability on her, Y'shtola will learn their name, the effect of their ability, and mark them with [In Awe of Miqo'te]. Abilities Y'shtola redirects to herself will not trigger this ability.

[In Awe of Miqo'te] - This player is excited about meeting the famous Miqo'te! If this player uses any helpful abilities, they will be redirected to Y'shtola Rhul. This mark expires at the end of the next night.

[Active - Magical - Aquaveil] - During the night, Y'shtola can surround another player with water to permanently grant them an extra life and mark them with [Wet and Wild].

[Wet and Wild] - This player is wet!

[Active - Magical - Thunder] - During the night, Y'shtola can electrocute all players marked by [Wet and Wild], consuming the marks and superkilling those players. Y'shtola cannot use this ability the same night as [Aquaveil].

[You're in my game now!] - This player's fate is being decided by the Mafia Host. This mark expires at the end of the night.

[Active - Magical - I make the rules!] - During the night, the Mafia Host can use this ability to either protect or roleblock everyone marked by [Youre in my game now!].

[One Shot Active - Tactical - Host Overreach] - The Mafia Host can try to rig the game, enabling them to use [The Chosen Few] on 4 players that day. If the Mafia Host is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, it will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - Power Creep] - The Mafia Host can buff its own role to improve [I make the rules!]. If the Mafia Host protects its targets, they will also be healed. If the Mafia Host roleblocks its targets, they will be role crushed for that night and the next cycle instead. If the Mafia Host is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, it will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[Two Shot Active - Magical - Player Engagement] - The Mafia Host will try to appease unhappy players. During the night, the Mafia Host can use this ability on 3 players to cure them of any poisons and/or role crushes affecting them. If the Mafia Host is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, they will gain 2 more charges of this ability. The Mafia Host cannot use this ability 2 nights in a row, and if the Mafia Host dies with unused charges of this ability, those charges will be randomly distributed out as one-shot abilities to living innocent players.

Well the truth is... I never distributed those charges of [Player Engagement], despite the role saying I would!

The reason is that this ability was made specifically to counteract the wide-coverage poison abilities held by @Oddjutsu (Sheogorath), @Shrike (Only) and @Worm Juice (Werner Heisenberg). After Oddjutsu and Shrike were eliminated early on, taking much of the game's poisoning power with them, I felt it would be unfair and unnecessary to hand this ability out.

But now things have changed! Well, a little bit. Many of you are currently sick and dying to various ailments, so I think it's time to deploy Xadlin's vaccine. Only now, you're going to have to work for it.

For the current cycle, I am going to hold an open-ended role making contest!

You have until the end of the night phase to privately send me the best original mafia role you can come up with. There are no restrictions or requirements for your role. The winner will receive a one-shot, all-purpose cure that can be used to immediately cure themselves or another player of all status ailments, and to restore all their missing lives. This one-shot will also bypass all blocks, crushes, etc.

I look for 2 things in a role: it must be fun to play, and it must be easy to understand.

For some of you, this contest is your only shot at survival. For others, denying this cure to anyone else may help guarantee your victory. Regardless which side you're on, everyone has a vested interested in winning this contest. So... good luck! And don't fuck it up.

    Roronoa Zoro
    from One Piece
    durability rating: 3

[Innate - Mugiwara no Ichimi] -
Zoro can communicate with Luffy outside of the game thread. If Zoro dies then Luffy will retrieve and bury Zoro's body. Zoro's alignment will be revealed, but his role name and abilities will be hidden until Luffy also dies.

[Active - Physical - Gomu Gomu no Sanbyaku Pound Cannon] - Zoro and Luffy share one faction kill that they can use each night. Zoro and Luffy can each decide whether to participate or not, and they each add a different effect if they participate. If Zoro helps perform the faction kill and the victim survives, Zoro will make them bleed.

[Conditional One Shot Active - Physical - Kyūtōryū] - If Luffy dies, Zoro can unleash his spiritual energy to upgrade the faction kill to a superkill.

[Innate - Mayoikomu] - Zoro always takes strange, convoluted paths to reach his destination. If Zoro doesn't know where he's going then nobody else can either, so Zoro can fool trackers.

[Passive - Santōryū] - Zoro is an expert swordsman. If another player uses a harmful physical ability on Zoro or Luffy, Zoro will counter their ability. This counter is a physical effect.

[Passive - Kenbunshoku Haki] - If another player applies a mark to Zoro or Luffy, Zoro will perceive it with his Haki and learn that mark's name, but not its effect.

[Two Shot Active - Tactical - Kaibutsu San-ningumi] - During the day or during the night, Zoro can sharpen his Haki to investigate one mark he perceived with [Kenbunshoku Haki]. Zoro will learn that mark's effects, the name of the player who applied it, and Zoro can choose to either keep or destroy the mark. Zoro can use this ability once each cycle, and if Zoro is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain 2 more charges of this ability.

[Active - Tactical - Den Den Mushi] - Luffy and Kaidou don't get along, so Zoro is responsible for managing Kaidou. During the day and during the night, Zoro can call Kaidou to send him a message. Zoro can use this ability once each phase.

[Innate - Saiaku no Sedai] - Zoro is an infamous pirate, granting him a voting power of 2.

Luffy and Zoro can each decide whether to participate or not, and they each add a different effect if they participate. If Luffy helps perform the faction kill, his sweeping attacks will isolate the victim.

[Active - Tactical - Gear Second] - Luffy can use his Devil Fruit to push his body beyond its normal limits. During the night, Luffy can permanently sacrifice one of his lives to upgrade the faction kill to a superkill. Luffy's body must recuperate afterward, so Luffy cannot use this ability two nights in a row.

[One Shot Active - Magical - Busoshoku Haki] - If Zoro dies, Luffy can unleash his spiritual energy to upgrade the faction kill to a superkill.

[Innate - Saiaku no Sedai] - Luffy is an infamous pirate, granting him a voting power of 3.

[One Shot Active - Magical - Haoshoku Haki] - During the day, Luffy can attack up to 4 other players with his spiritual energy, roleblocking and vote silencing them for the rest of the day. If Luffy is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[Active - Tactical - Sen'i] - During the night Luffy can send his crew's doctor, Tony Tony Chopper, to treat another player, healing them and curing them of poisons. Chopper needs to restock on medicine, so Luffy cannot use this ability 2 nights in a row.

[Active - Magical - Kenbunshoku Haki] - During the night Luffy can use his Haki to watch himself or another player and learn who visits them.

[Two Shot Active - Tactical - Kaibutsu San-ningumi] - During the night Luffy can sharpen his Haki, and for that night [Kenbunshoku Haki] will be applied to all his teammates (but not himself). Luffy cannot use this ability 2 nights in a row, and if Luffy is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain 2 more charges of this ability.

[Active - Tactical - Dī no Ishi] - Luffy is a gifted leader. During the night Luffy can investigate one of his teammates to learn their abilities, and for the next cycle, they can discuss the game with Luffy and Zoro outside of the thread. The next day, Luffy can choose one of their abilities to permanently improve. Luffy can only use this ability once on each of his teammates.

[Active - Tactical - Den Den Mushi] - During the day and during the night, Luffy can call one of his teammates to send them a message. Luffy doesn't like Kaidou, so Luffy cannot use this ability on Kaidou. Luffy can use this ability once each phase.

With both his captors dead, @nfcnorth (Kaidou) rebelled and left the game.

    durability rating: infinite

    [Innate - The World's Strongest Creature] -

[Innate - No King Rules Forever] - Kaidou was defeated by Luffy and Zoro, who spared his life in exchange for his joining their mafia team. Kaidou knows Luffy and Zoro's abilities, and they know his. If Luffy and Zoro die, Kaido will leave the game.

[Innate - The Beasts Pirates] - Kaidou knows the identity and alignment of his son, Yamato. Yamato knows Kaidou's identity, but not his alignment.

[Active - Physical - Death Wish] - Kaidou wants to die. During the night, Kaidou can shield another player with his body, redirecting kills used against them to himself. If Kaidou successfully redirects a kill with this ability, he will learn its user's name and mark them with [That felt great, do it again!].

[That felt great, do it again!] - This player attacked Kaidou, and now Kaidou wants more! If this player uses a killing ability, Kaidou will redirect it to himself. This mark is consumed when it triggers, and it expires automatically after 2 cycles. If several killing abilities are used at once, one ability will be randomly chosen to be redirected.

[Two Shot Active - Magical - Kenbunshoku Haki] - During the night night Kaidou can sharpen his Haki, enabling him to [Death Wish] on his entire team that night. Kaidou cannot use this ability 2 nights in a row. If Kaidou is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain 2 more charges of this ability.

    Game end
  • I've had enough!

Since @DrProfessor83 is being elected in a landslide victory, I'm closing the polls an hour early.

DrProfessor chose to lynch @SoulKiller .

@SoulKiller was protected against the lynch, so it passed to the Professor's second choice, @Karma (Shigeo Kageyama). Karma was the last surviving member of the red mafia team, and with his death, the red mafia team officially loses the twelfth-annual Favorites.

I am now able to reveal the true abilities of the red mafia team's traitor, @Admiral Fujitora (Mierin Eronaile). Unlike Didi, Fuji knew the identities of his "teammates," so Fuji's role was hidden to protect them after his death.

    Kageyama Shigeo
    from Mob Psycho 100

[Active - Magical - Molecule Control] - During the night, Shigeo can rearrange another player's molecules to cure them of any role crushes that may be affecting them. If Shigeo cures another player of a role crush, he will absorb the role crush to permanently gain one charge of [Psionic Force].

[Active - Magical - Force Field] - During the night, Shigeo can shield 2 players to permanently grant them an extra life. Shigeo will learn if this bonus life is consumed and who consumed it, and Shigeo will permanently mark the attacker with [Kinetic Energy]. Shigeo cannot shield more than two players at one time.

[Kinetic Energy] - This player passed through a force field!

[One Shot Active - Tactical - 100% Courage] - During the night Shigeo can enhance his powers, healing himself and marking another player with [Kinetic Energy]. If any player dies while role crushed by Shigeo, he will gain an extra charge of this ability. If Shigeo is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[Conditional Active - Magical - Psychic Crush] - During the night, Shigeo can use this ability in one of two ways, depending on whether he expends [Psionic Force] or [Kinetic Energy]. Shigeo can consume one charge of [Psionic Force] to role crush another player for that night and the next two cycles. Alternatively, Shigeo can consume the [Kinetic Energy] mark on another player to role crush them for that night and the next two cycles.

[Innate - Psychic Energy Transference] - If Shigeo is murdered by another player, he will record his final memories and broadcast them to his teammates, telling them all the name of the player who killed Shiego.

[Active - Magical - Astral Projection] - During the night, Shigeo can project his spirit into another player's mind to deliver them a message through the moderator. If Shigeo's target is on his team they will know the message came from him, and if they aren't on his team the sender will be anonymous. Mierin Eronaile
    from The Wheel of Time
    durability rating: 3

[Innate - Daughter of the Night] -
Mierin is better known as the great and terrible Lanfear. Lanfear appears to be part of the red mafia team, but Lanfear secretly has her own win condition: to be the last member of either mafia team alive.

[Innate - You are mine, Lews Therin Telamon] - Lanfear infiltrated the red mafia team by impersonating a submission that didn't make it into the game: Rand al'Thor. Lanfear appears to her teammates as Rand, and if Lanfear's role or abilities are investigated, she will appear as the following fake role:

    Rand al'Thor

    from The Wheel of Time

    durability rating: 4

[Innate - Don't look at my taint!] - Rand's source of magic, Saidin, is tainted by the malignant power of the Dark One. Rand's abilities cannot be perceived by other players.

[Innate - An Unhealthy Obsession] - Lanfear is completely obsessed with one of the members of the town. At the start of the game, Lanfear must choose one player who isn't in her mafia team to become her [Obsession]. Lanfear will learn her Obsession's role, and she will use her magic to redirect all kills away from them to different, randomly-chosen members of the town. If Lanfear's Obsession dies, Lanfear will leave the game. If Lanfear wins the game, her Obsession will win with her.

[Innate - The Wrong Side of History] - Lanfear pledged her soul to the almighty Dark One, who protects her against role crushes. Lanfear cannot attempt to kill her teammates, and The Dark One will execute Lanfear for her betrayal if she is seen brazenly sabotaging her teammates in the game thread. When Lanfear's first teammate dies, the Dark One will punish Lanfear's failure by reducing her durability rating to 2. If Lanfear has more than 2 lives when this happens, her life count will also be reduced to 2.

[One Shot Active - The True Power] - During the night Lanfear can draw directly from the malignant power of the Dark One to superkill another player. Lanfear will gain an extra charge of this ability if she is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined.

[Passive - Anything you can do, I can do better] - Lanfear is a sorceress of unrivaled power. If another player uses a magical ability on Lanfear, she will learn their name and the effect of their ability. If the ability was not protective or helpful to Lanfear, she will reflect it back at its user. If the ability has some helpful parts but other negative or investigative effects, Lanfear will accept only the helpful parts and reflect the unhelpful parts.

[Passive - The Third Age] - To Lanfear's surprise, the ignorant and backwards people of the modern world have developed new magical techniques. If Lanfear detects a magical ability, she will attempt to mimic it, and if successful Lanfear will permanently gain a new ability based on the one she mimicked.

[One Shot Active - The Unseen World] - During the day Lanfear can summon any number of her teammates into the ethereal World of Dreams, enabling them to discuss the game outside of the thread for the rest of the cycle. Lanfear may also end the meeting at any point, causing the host to close the discussion room without any explanation. Lanfear will gain an extra charge of this ability if she is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined.

[Active - Magical - Lord of Chaos] - Lanfear is trying to pit her teammates against each other. During the night, Lanfear can appear in one of her teammate's dreams to send them a message through the moderator. Lanfear can send the message anonymously, or she can impersonate a different teammate so that the message will appear to have come from them. When Lanfear visits her teammate's dreams, she will also learn the names, effects and targets of any abilities they used that night.

[Active - Magical - Dreamwalker] - During the night, Lanfear can appear in her [Obsession]'s dreams to send them an anonymous message through the host. If Lanfear uses this ability she will also watch her Obsession that night, learning the names of anyone who visits them.

[Active - Magical - Compulsion] - During the night Lanfear can bewitch another player's mind, permanently marking them with [Compulsion].

[Compulsion] - If Lanfear is attacked with a kill, this player will unknowingly redirect the kill to themselves. This mark is consumed when it triggers. While this mark persists, any harmful or investigative abilities its bearer uses on Lanfear will be redirected away from her without their knowledge.

The remaining purple mafia team members, @Ekkologix (Pierre Poilievre) and @SoulKiller (Grichka and Igor Bogdanoff), now have enough voting power to permanently control the lynch.

:cattap The purple mafia team has officially won the twelfth-annual Favorites! :cattap

[Active - Physical - Riposte] - During the night Vergil can use a defensive technique to counter any harmful physical abilities used on him. If Vergil counters another player, he will permanently mark them with [Exposed Weakness]. Vegil cannot use this ability 2 nights in a row, and he cannot use this ability and [Yamato] in the same night.

[Exposed Weakness] - If Vergil uses [Yamato] on this player, its effects will be upgraded to their next stage. This mark is consumed when it triggers.

[One Shot Active - Magical - Mirage Blades] - During the night Vergil can conjure spectral swords to extend his range. That night, Vergil can use [Riposte] on up to 2 other players in addition to himself, countering harmful physical abilities used on them and applying [Exposed Weakness] to the countered players. If Vergil is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will gain an extra charge of this ability.

[One Shot Active - Tactical - Devil Trigger] - During the night Vergil can unleash his demonic powers. from DC Comics
    durability rating: 3

[Innate - Unstuck from the universe] -
Roger Hayden is better known as the fearsome Psycho-Pirate, a man who is unaffected by physics, space and time. When Favorites is divided into two games, the Psycho-Pirate will be part of both games. The Psycho-Pirate will not be made eligible for execution in either game. If the Psycho-Pirate dies in one game, his role and alignment will be hidden from the game thread until both versions of him die. If the Psycho-Pirate is alive when the two Favorites games are recombined, he will lose his protection against the execution.

[Innate - All previous versions of reality] - If both versions of the Psycho-Pirate are alive when Favorites is recombined, his life count and voting power will be added together. The Psycho-Pirate will also gain an extra charge of both his limited-use abilities, and if either version of the Psycho-Pirate had unused charges of those abilities, those charges will also be carried forward.

[Passive - A man who could make gods go mad] - The Psycho-Pirate is widely feared, granting him a voting power of 2. If the Psycho-Pirate successfully gains another player's voting power with [Worlds lived, worlds died], he will permanently gain an extra voting power.

[Active - Tactical - Worlds lived, worlds died] - The Psycho-Pirate has unique insight into the universe, and he believes voting power is best left with him. The Psycho-Pirate cannot use this ability on the same player 2 days in a row.

[True Believer] - This player supports the mysterious cosmic being known as the Psycho-Pirate.

[One Shot Active - Magical - A Cauldron of Bats] - Vlad can conjure a swarm of bats, enabling him to use [Metamorphosis] on one extra player for each life Vlad had at the beginning of the night. For example, if Vlad has 3 lives, he can use Metamorphosis on 3 extra players. If Vlad helps lynch a guilty player he will gain an extra charge of this ability.

    Grichka and Igor Bogdanoff
    from real life
    durability rating: 4

[Passive - Advanced Cosmetic Surgery] -
Grichka and Igor paid the Academy to turn them into cyborgs, protecting them against roleblocks and role crushes.

[Innate - Huge in France] - Grichka and Igor work in media, where they are always being filmed. If another player visits Grichka and Igor, the twins will learn that player's name and the effects of their ability.

Grichka and Igor can use this ability once per cycle.

[Two Shot Active - Physical - Double Trouble] - Grichka and Igor can split up, enabling them to use [Nosy Neighbors] on 2 players that night. Grichka and Igor don't like to be apart, so they can't use this ability 2 nights in a row. [One Shot Active - Tactical - Ladies Luncheon] - Grichka and Igor can gather their teammates at a fundraiser, enabling Grichka and Igor to use [Nosy Neighbors] on all their teammates that night. Purple mafia role PM:

You are the Academy, a fanatical research institute that seeks to impose its warped sense of enlightenment on the game!

The Academy is led by its two chief scientists, @Worm Juice (Werner Heisenberg) of the nuclear program and @John Wayne (Gordon Freeman) of the artificial intelligence program. The Academy is also supported by a few important backers: @Ekkologix (Pierre Poilievre), @tinky winky (Silco), and @SoulKiller (Grichka and Igor Bogdanoff).

The Academy has thus far produced four original, sentient creations, which it uses to wage war against the rest of the game: @Iwandesu (A Sentient Number 7), @SinRaven (Elite Teutonic Knight), @Melodie (Envy) and @Hero (My Girlfriend).

Your Academy has a... sorted history. When the Academy first turned toward evil, one brave scientist named @Didi (Melodie) tried to stop you. Melodie was ultimately defeated, and you took advantage of the situation by turning her into a deadly cyborg, your finest weapon to date.

Melodie is the mechanism through which you will enact faction kills. During the night you will collectively choose a faction kill target, and Didi (Melodie) will be forced to perform that kill. Melodie's memory was erased, so she does not remember any of your identities and she isn't invited to this chat. Although Melodie is part of your team and seems to be functioning normally for now, she can't be trusted entirely, and so she is kept at a distance.

If at any point in the game Melodie seems to malfunction or you become distrustful of her, you can permanently deactivate her to remove her from the game, but you will lose your faction kill with her.

    Red mafia role PM
  • Red mafia role PM:

You are the red mafia team!

You are some of the most famous and influential characters in the world, and now you've all banded together to wipe out those undeserving, lesser characters!

Your team is led by its captain and vice-captain, @Owner Of A Lonely Heart (Monkey D. Luffy) and @Traveling Swordsman (Roronoa Zoro). These two are accompanied by their old enemy @nfcnorth (Kaidou), who is helping your team in exchange for Luffy and Zoro having spared his life.

Your star-studded roster of teammates also includes @Flower (Ash Ketchum), @FLORIDA MAN (Peter Parker), @Underworld Broker (Inuyasha), @JoJo (Sabrina Spellman), @Admiral Fujitora (Rand al'Thor), @Mich (Y'shtola Rhul), and @Karma (Shigeo Kageyama).

But of course, a protagonist is nothing without their plot armor and their real-life media empire. You are also joined by @Ultra (Deus ex machina) and @Lord Genome (The Almighty Dollar). And finally, a reminder that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions: the nefarious @TheAncientCenturion (Lady Bone Demon) joined your team for their own mysterious purposes!

Oh, one last thing! You seem to all have a bad case of "main character syndrome." You see, getting a bunch of main characters to work together is like herding cats. As a result, your team has no team chat, you do not know each other's abilities, and you don't share a faction kill. You will be sent your roles separately and privately.

Good luck, and don't fuck it up!

    Closing thoughts
  • Let's have a girl's chat, shall we? :catlove

I want to discuss some of the mechanics in this game, and whether they were a bop, or a flop!

    The bops

    1. The execution

Modkills are messy, like me after I've had a few drinks! The execution is an impartial way for the host to punish inactivity, while still allowing inactive players the chance to defend themselves and reverse course. This chart-topping mechanic should become a staple hit in everyone's future games!

    2. The split groups

The only thing messier than modkills is a 71 player game. It's inarguable that this mechanic was just what this game needed!

    3. All 50 shades of roleblocks

This game introduced a gaggle of mini-roleblocks that applied only to specific types of abilities: counters, disarms, vulnerability, and isolation. This was a great way to give every role a little special something! Like with the execution, I think this mechanic deserves to become the season's hottest trend!

    4. Limited lynching

I know some of you disagree with me, but I think the limited lynch pool worked out just fine this game. I always planned to remove the mechanic later into the game, so to be clear, its removal isn't a point against it. However, I agree this mechanic is abusable, and it wouldn't stand the test of time in future games.

    The flops

    1. Multiball of Madness

In 9 years of hosting, this is the first and probably last time I will ever host a multiball. I think many of the complaints about this game really go back to the nature of it being a large multiball, and ultimately, I feel that multiball just gets too far away from the purpose of playing mafia. I didn't originally plan for the game to be a multiball, but once the player list grew far beyond expectation, I thought I had to make it a multiball or the mafia team would just be unreasonably large. Looking back, I wish I'd simply bitten the bullet on a huge mafia team and not done a mutliball. For me, this game proved that I just don't like multiballs. (:hurr)

    2. Flash

This mechanic just didn't add anything to the game, and after watching the game, I feel that the town could have abused flash in really unfair ways.

    3. Red team not having a team chat

I personally enjoy being mafia but don't really like having to keep up with a team chat, so I thought the red mafia team's large but disparate numbers would be just the thing! And I was right- it was just the thing. Just the thing to piss everyone right off! This will go down in history as one of those many mechanics that were interesting, but just too frustrating or disruptive for the players.
